My old P touch label printer had a problem with the LCD contrast being readable. Without a flashlight and reading glasses, it was basically useless.This model completely fixes that problem by having a full color bright screen! It was very easy to set up wireless printing and the quality is as good as it gets. Best label printer so far!This review is for the Brother P-touch PT-D600VP (this one comes with a case). I LOVE IT!! My first project was to create new address labels for our neighborhood mailboxes. We have "cluster mailboxes" on our streets (you know, the mailboxes where there are like a dozen mailboxes on one unit), and they had these super cheap paper address stickers on the insides on the boxes; the existing address labels inside the mailboxes were ripping, faded, and unreadable. Mind you, these are the address labels that the USPS mail carriers use to see whose mail goes into which box, so it’s important that they are readable! I printed an AWESOME NEW LABEL for my mailbox, and then printed several more for my neighbors!!I have also created labels for newly-planted trees and plants in the backyard, attaching labels made on my Brother P-touch to the plastic “t-labels” to be inserted in the ground for various plants. The garden looks AWESOME with everything labeled, included citrus and fruit trees!The TZE indoor-outdoor laminated tape is GREAT. I have been using the 3/4-inch and the 1-inch. The labels stick on really well, but if you want to remove them, they can be removed easily without the same hassle of an icky paper label-sticker where you spend five minutes with your fingernails digging into the goopy sticker that leaves a bunch of goo and never comes off completely: This is NOT the case with the TZE tape! The tape, and the label maker, are AWESOME! I first thought I would make a label using just the machine itself (not connected to a computer). And it seemed like it would be a bit of a chore... So I plugged the machine into my MacBook Pro and downloaded the software/app & editor (a fast and easy process), and VOILÀ!! Easy peezy!!! I have now been creating all my labels on the laptop, and printing them very easily to the label maker, when it is plugged into the Mac (The Brother PT-D600 VP came with a regular USB connection wire, & I have USB2 connections on the Mac, so I simply used my USB2 adapter; easy). I AM SO HAPPY THAT I PURCHASED THIS!! This is getting a lot of use!!This label makers a little on the expensive side for what I need but let me tell you it's the best I've ever owned. 1" wide labels for my tool box! Now I can see them clearly. I haven't even begun to explore this thing but the very first label was exactly what I was wanting. Love it.You can print from anything with this printer. If the text is small enought that this starts having trouble with it, you need a magnifying glass to read it, anyway.I bought this after my last ones screen shorted out and I could no longer see what it was doing. I went for this one over getting the same 400 model I had because of it's ability to connect to pc and have custom icons, banners etc uploaded to the machine. In my head it seemed like it would be easier to use I guess because now that I have it, I don't use that feature. The software is pretty clunky and not a very good workflow overall. Added to it it's incompletely to plug directly into my laptop without requiring an adaptor for USB-C. So together adds up to me probably having overpaid for a printer when one of the same model would have been more than sufficient. Live and learnReplaced my 30 year old Brother labelers with this one. Easy to use and offers more choices. Their TZe tapes are incredibly durable & waterproof.Organizing my LEGO parts inventory is a breeze with the P-Touch, this is a great tool for making all the labels I needed now and will continue to need well into the future. Easy to use and the unit itself feels study and of good quality. Being able to use this in conjunction with the Brother App is a plus and expands the unit's capabilities. Only downside is that I've raved about the P-Touch to many of my fellow LEGO peeps and of course I will be happy to share the unit.20220414: I bought this thing a while back, did not use right away. Now I've used it on a variety of items. Here's my experience:User Interface: It is a little clunky, but I've not seen a label maker yet that isn't odd in one way or another. It is reasonably easy to type in the text for the label, but it is just a little annoying to have to remember to erase it before starting the next label. It is several buttons to push, including a confirm check, but you get used to it after doing it several times.Tape: This unit uses the Brother split-down-the-middle tape, this has been how Brother does tape for a long time. It is fairly easy to split and peel, so all good from that aspect. The adhesion is great. I've put these labels on light switches, paper files, and tool cabinet drawers. They adhere very well. The tape is thick, sturdy, and holds up for a long time.This P-Touch has a built-in tape cutter. It wastes a good amount of tape, but I suppose that is what is required for the machine to have enough tape to move through the unit. Brother could have designed the output to be a little closer to the edge of the machine, but all in all, it isn't that big of an issue.Overall: This is maybe my third P-Touch over the years. Like the previous ones, it is a good, solid unit. It runs on power cord or batteries, and functions solo, or plugged into a computer. However, there are quite a few physical differences, notably the keyboard. the replacement unit has a less functional keyboard because not only the special keys are using icons, instead of named ones like shown here, but also a few common useful symbols, #'()", were replaced with euro and pound dollar signs, also caps lock key with Æ(would be useful for Elon Musk to label his son. Lol...). Will see if I could get one with the correct keyboard. On vendor's web site, Both keyboards were shown in the pictures which is confusing====================================================================I have used many PT labeler over the years without any issue which was the reason I came back to this model.The good. color screen, clear print, many settings and software. can be used with or without PC. comes with power adapter and also can use batteries.The bad. bulky. the machine is pretty big.The ugly. the latest firmware 1.04 has serious bug which should be caught with proper QA. Once using "fn" to change settings(cut option and tab length to save tape), it prints extra labels with the previous erased label data, EVEN with factory reset. Waiting for vendor support on this as they are escalating. Steps to reproduce the issue.1. factory reset (to make sure a clean machine)2. go into "create label", and then use "fn" key to change settings(don't matter if typed text or not on label"3. type anything on the label if haven't and print. this first label will come out as normal4. clear the label either using clear button, or backspace key, type something else on the label, then print5. it will print an extra label with the already erased/cleared text first, then hit the print again will give you the 2nd label with the correct text. Vendor confirmed issue and will send me a replacement. Will update on how it goes.This is a very versatile labeler that is much better than the Brother PT-1950 that it replaces. Just be aware that Canadians only receive a one-year warranty even though it states two years on the box. Customer Service informed me that Americans get two years' warranty. Canadians get one year.Dude al principio vs varios modelos en el mercado. Es super sencillo de usar, tambien conectarlo a la PC. Lo que ,as me inquietó son los cartuchos, si bien son caros, lo entendi por la calidad de la etiqueta. Si requieres hacer una inversión es buena opcion, en mi caso lo compre para etiquetar el material escolar de mis dos hijos y mis dos sobrinos, si solo deseas etiquetar de forma temporal, busca otra impresora más accesible. Imprime varias lineas de buena calidad, puedes ajustar los tamaños, el corte, crear códigos de barras, Qr, etc. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
